    I loved my C64, i sold my BMX and put the money towards buying one at xmas. It was 1984 and it was 200, just for the console. Then i had to by the tape deck and joystick just to play games! Back in the day people were pushing the C64 to the limits. They said it was incapable of producing replicating speech but i had a game called V8 and they made that speek, the game was shit though.

    Congratulation! Real Deal!! Luv C64 saw till death!!

  5. allistonmedia:

    that is awesome, the last few seconds of the video are pretty cool too ;-)

  6. jeevespreston:

    We have reached nerd-vana!!! Perfect testimony to the amount of wasted processor time and bloated code in modern machines, if the venerable 64 can perform these audio functions… Awesome video!!

  7. skribl2000:

    i still have my comadore 64 and this was sick :) realy great work to all of you that done this :) truly a master piece :D

  8. pigpenthegreat:

    @Sarstan watch video k4GWheE4Gkw if you want to hear it without crowd noise

  9. snesoey:

    this is uber kewl!!!!!! im glad i get this ;)

  10. TheRainySage:

    is this all done in LLL-Assembly? I’m just trying to find a practical example of why this is so awesome (and understand it). Is this impressive because of how complex the break down is within the amount of memory that each instruction uses? I’d just like someone to explain/break this down at the basic level for me please. Thanks! (Learning about LLL/HLL/VLLL in class).

  11. jpelczar:

    @jeevespreston Can C64 handle 3840×1080 @ 32bpp with accelerated 3D graphics, terabytes of harddisk space, multichannel high quality sound, hundreds of threads, HD movies, etc. ? I don’t think so.

  12. athr0x:

    @jpelczar: you just don’t get it, do you?

  13. ramimarkusmaunula:

    @jpelczar No computer, PC or otherwise handles the processing load you specified (3840×1080, HD sound, whatever). That is, without specialized external hardware that’s much more powerful bolted on them, in or out.

  14. thorgallpl:

    im really happy i grew up in the 80s!

  15. escopeta:

    The commodore 64 is pure magic

  16. escopeta:

    @jpelczar

    Remeber is techonlogy 1982 and…

    I remember that only uses 1 MHz and 64 KB RAM. You can do that a PC? ummm. I do not think

  17. escopeta:

    @MrWrayn

    The song is Susanne vega – tom’s diner

  19. Paperinjerate:

    That’s so freakin’ awesome!!

  20. cyborgtroy:

    It’s really amazing that the C64 can exactly replicate the sound of a cheering crowd and a mumbling singer.

  21. sweisman:

    @thkruege i was being sarcastic. i meant the software and how impressive it was. i’m 44, and i am (or would be) that grandfather (:-). i was an atari man myself (original 800), but the c64 had some great specs, and it was the hottest computer of the time.

  22. professorquack:

    @jeevespreston although it did take 20 years of knowledge to put the demo together. I’m sure in 20 years our ghz machine will be putting out some crazyness.
